"Say aircraft type"

Just use P28 Bravo slant Golf. They wont mistake you for anything else. Simply use that every time anyone wants to know your aircraft type. P28 Romeo slant uniform works like a charm every time anyone wants to know that I am in the Arrow 200.

Happy flying!

OK, so this still has me confused, and the link to aircraft type designators reminded me.

What do I call my T207 over the radio? It's a 1969 207 converted to turbo.

Stationair? (that's also a 206 apparently)
Skywagon? (that's also a 180...)
Stretch Limo? :P

I chuckled and told the tower we thought he meant a Diamond JET (Beechjet). It goes both ways.

You do realize that puts you (and me) into the "older" crowd since most folks don't make that connection? I still think Diamond every time I see one.

I wish the DoJet had a different designator. "J328" has us constantly being referred to as a Jetstream. It's not uncommon for a controller to ask us what type aircraft we are ... simply because they don't know. There just aren't enough around.

Hey Ya'll,
Anywho I just like hear "Piper Cherokee", "Traumahawk" or "Cessna 172" etc. As a controller at a larger airport, the difference between a 172, 182, Cherokee, Dakota, and a Cheetah is pretty nill. Basically it lets me know that you're slow and unless you are good (and there are alot out there that are) its hard to work ya in a final. (By good I mean, land with no flaps and shoot the ILS firewalled :nana2: Rock on!)

Anywho regarding the Piper Arrows (P28R) ive also seen PARO. (And ive learned its also legal and will work!). Anywho if ya call me up with something I dont know, then I'll usually just make up some 4 letter a/c type like "BTOW" for Banner-Tow, or "HELO" for any Helicopter, "ICU" or "SPY" for a police aircraft etc. This is what alot of us do just to get it started in the STARS for local VFR flight following. If its something long range, then I'll usually ask for the full type.

Keep the blue side up and green between!!!
