You got through the hard part that most people who fail, fail on (the oral), so don't be discouraged.

I hope the next examiner actually gives me the credit for the oral and we just go out and do the flight portion. Is this the actual case in most cases?

Oh man You and I need to have a chat soon. I doing my Comm-single in a couple of weeks in San Antonio and I have heard nothing but horror stories about the CFI initial when it comes to the SA FSDO.........

Texas tail draggers is a one man show. He just ibstructs out of the airport. Hes not the only one on the field who does tail dragger sign offs. I would cbeck out the field. Good networking ops as well.

Well I would, but I'm living near Nashville right now, just remember seeing his banner a couple times...

An examiner is authorized to test you on every task in the PTS even if you only need to be tested on one task. HOWEVER, contrary to popular belief, the examiners are human and they want to go home too. So, with very rare exception, they will just test on the required tasks.

Look at your Notice of Disapproval (pink slip) and ensure you understand what it says on that paper. Does is say upon reapplication you will be reexamined on: "the flight portion" or "the entire test" or "short field landings" or what? That is the minimum of the test and most likely the extent of what you will see.

Typically when someone is disapproved on a reexamination for a task that was not listed, it is something that occurred in the normal sequence of flight. For example, if a person is to be reexamined on short field landings, but along the way to the practice area they do something wrong, then that can result in another disapproval.

Yes it says retest short field and pretty much all the other required flight portions of the test. I only made it past two landings lol

Here is the bright side. You don't have to do the oral again, so this time when you get to the airplane your stress meter will not have reached the caution range.

It's a shame he didn't let you continue and do the rest of the test. I've found that often after someone fails a test and then continues on with the rest of the test that they will do better than before. It's purely psychological. Having the pressure removed makes them perform differently.

I'm sure you will do fine on your next test, but "just in case", be sure to talk with the examiner before starting the test and let him or her know that in the event that a maneuver is not satisfactory that you would like to continue on with the test and try to demonstrate satisfactory performance in as many maneuvers as possible.

Yes that is what I am thinking for the retest, continue if I can and knock out as much as I can!! I am just waiting for the FSDO to process my paperwork and give me a ring! Hope to hear from them by Thrusday. Shooting to try the ride again next Friday.

Keep you guys posted!

Nick
