Salary Question

Whats a fair asking salary for a Gulfstream III SIC with no time in type or type rating? Company will be paying for training.

Thanks.

I don't know if this helps, but we pay our G550 SIC (who is also Captain qualified on the airplane) $175K

So is this guy also captain for certain trips, or is he exclusively used as an SIC but holds a PIC type?

He flies SIC on most trips, PIC when our Captain is on vacation, and we use a temp for SIC. We regard him very, very highly, but respect his wishes to primarily function as SIC.

Guarantee your not going to get 175 for an old ass GIII. Marcus that is very impressive what you guys are paying, and from your last posts you definitely won't be looking for pilots anytime soon. I do want a chance when your pilots leave or retire though. As a current And typed GIII guy flying internationally part 91 I just don't see someone getting that kind of money. Sadely enough GIVs are quickly becoming obsolete and GIII operators are already having troubles with noise and fuel costs. I love the three " it goes like lightning and makes it's own thunder", but I am using this hopefully as a stepping stone to step up into some newer/bigger G's and for the international experience.

Our captain is 36 and our FO is 34 so it may be a while. The guys made owning this thing a complete joy. I am glad we bought it.

I still dont have a number to work with here! $175k is all thats come up here and thats just... not realistic ;)

Anyone else wanna add to this? For me, $50k sounds about right, but i really have no idea. i made $45k sitting right seat in a Citation II, part 135.

Do we have any GIII pilots on here?

I chatted with an acquaintance who has a family owned GIII operated under 91. They're paying $70K for the right side.

excellent! thanks for the info!

You're quite welcome. That particular GIII operation is kinda strange. They fly a LOT of legs of about 200 miles "up to the family lake house". They fly maybe 200 hours a year and almost no international. Both of their pilots have asked for contract flying in the 550 (of course we'd have to pay for their training). I don't like either of them particularly, and am making a heartfelt attempt to ignore them when the occassion arises.

I think fair pay for a III where company pays for school is 10 a month for left seat and probably 6 a month for the right for an airplane that does quite a bit of international flying. If it is only domestic MAYBE a little less( domestic flying seems so easy and nice after being mostly international). I have been VERY LUCKY with my aviation career (CANT STRESS NETWORKING ENOUGH).When I was hired I had no G time at all, but had flown with the lead pilot on this plane. Granted the ONLY REASON I was hired into the G was because the lead pilot knew what kind of worker/pilot/employee I was. I didn't have to sign a commitment, because the lead pilot went to bat for me (granted just on the fact they didn't make me sign one, unless I was worried about something I would give them a year). A GIII initial type is not cheap; I think they are anywhere from 20- 30 thousand.

Thread Bump

I will be going to training next month for the G-III. Is the time in type desire able and marketable or not really? It doesn't really matter to me as this is a really good job, I was just wondering. 70 for the right seat is still accurate I think. Thanks guys.
