Colgan (USAir Express) does as well and I understand they either just purchased or will be purchasing more of them. Another US Air Express operator flies one into KBED… not sure what company that is.
As of last May, there were 392 Saab 340s in operation, with 57 stored. If there is a specific airline you'd like me to look at, let me know. You're a great guy, Lloyd, but running down a list of 500+ airlines to find out which ones operate these planes is a little more than I'm willing to do for ya!
Colgan flies them into manassas for maintenance and they like to kick in the beta when making the 90 degree turns on the taxi ways......gotta love that noice....sounds like a cicada with a huge set of, well, you know.

Colgan, Shuttle America, Mesaba, Chicago Express, Eagle.

*Plus Pinnacle, Pen Air & Chautauqua.
From the lists I have seen Shuttle, Chautauqua, & Mesaba still operate A models in their fleet, in addition to the B (& some B+) models.
Eagle has only 340B & B+ versions. At one point I believe AE was the l;argest American operator of the 340. However, some AE B model Saabs were sold to Chicago Express & Shuttle not too long ago and the fleet is dwindling. (There are now less than 30 in active service from those on the certificate.)
Saab Aircraft Leasing has an interactive map of all their operators worldwide, including the corporate operators at
Sorry, CHQ doesnt have Saabs. And Hasnt since sometime shortly after 9-11. Their saabs are what started the shuttle America (#2). To my knowledge pinnacle is also all jet as all their saabs went to Mesaba.

Who currently operates the Saab 340? Just wondering....

The pilot, but that's not important right now.

Classic. No, I'm actually just wondering where a guy I know ended up at. He's typed in the 340, so it's some airline that flew them at least around 2001...which could be alot of carriers....
All of the N-numbers were changed. We have 300CE-309CE, 311CE, 312CE, and 314CE-318CE. Maybe 194AE was 300CE. If so, that airplane sucks. I just flew it last week and it was a truck.
All of our planes are ex-Eagle. We still have Eagle hot jugs and galley carts.
I take it that Saab is no longer in the commercial aircraft market? They made the 2000 for a while but I've never seen one stateside. I've ridden on plenty of US Air 340's. I'm sure they're fun to fly, but for pax they are horribly uncomfortable. It seems Saab could have made a decent RJ. Anyone know why they never entered that market?
