Russian airlines Tranformation

Hey,

I thought it be cool to check how Russian airlines transform these past years.

Aeroflot, I remember how ugly their aircrafts were a couple of years ago. Their planes smelled and their food wasn't that great either. In fact I think they were the last major airline to ban smoking on board. The last couple of years they got their game up repainted their aircraft started to offer better service, quality and joined Sky team. Pretty impressive

I also like Siberian airlines transformation. I remember they use to have same airplane design as Aeroflot blue and white ugly as hell. Anyways they got their game up like Aeroflot repainted their aircraft started to offer better services and they also changed their name to S7, eventually they are hoping to join OneWorld alliance. The color I just have to comment on that it is really pretty striking the choice of green. People think they are going some place warm but for real... well you get my point.

It's good to see the improvements in aircraft and infrastructure. That has got to improve safety and reliability considerably. The Russian military pilots are extremely good so I can't imagine their airline pilots aren't equally as good. I think it was the old Russian bureaucratic system that kept them in the dark ages with respect to aviation and safety.

Side thought: Anybody know if Ethiopian Airlines serves food on their flights?

Of course not!! There is actually no food in Ethopia, not a single crumb. The airline operates a million dollar aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean so I'm sure they are able to cater it. In the US, the fattest country in the world we have people that are living in hunger.

Not trying to jump on anyone's comments here, but to just stir a little foresight. Cheers

ps...I am typing this from a machine that was made by the professor out of coconuts and a conch shell because that's all we have here in the caribbean.

Now that right there's funny.

I stopped the Aeroflot video about halfway through because, although I don't speak Russian, I recognize a well-produced marketing promo when I see one.

Apparently, every girl that works for Aeroflot is marginally cute or better.

Improvement makes sense there. Russia's economy is growing - not at a China-pace but a manageable one, and frankly, they've got almost as much oil as Saudi Arabia, and almost as much gold and diamonds as Canada and South Africa combined. They're writing a lot of good software there, too. <shrug>

Sittin' pretty, I'd say. Things look rosy for them.

A Cessna Caravan costs over a million dollars. I would guess the Ethiopian airliner costs more like $50m. Not trying to jump on anyone's comments here, but just to stir a little foresight. Cheers

I actually saw an Ethiopian airliner at the gate in Newark the other day. Whenever I see anything on TV or read about Ethiopia, it usually involves hungry and starving people. It just made me wonder what the airline provided for inflight food. It wasn't meant to be insensitive.

Say Hi to Ginger and Maryann for me will you?
