ruptured spleen/ removed spleen

I have a student that is interested in taking lessons however he had a ruptured spleen and had to have it removed. He was wondering if this was of concern to the FAA and if he would have any problems getting a medical.

He will report it as surgery on the 8500-8 but it will not be of any concern. I assume he had a pneumonia vaccine after the surgery for his good health.

Have him enjoy his flying

My gf currently has pneumonia, I guess when you come back from vacation abroad as sick as a dog, and then going skiing in 12 degree weather for 3 days it is not surprising.

She was not impressed to learn that I looked after a horse who had pneumonia - it died.
