What am i looking for to see when the flaps are depleted?
Judging by the cheering I'm going to assume there was a briefing of a abnormality and the people are happy they are alive. Or in Soviet Russia you cheer if you get to come down the slides instead of the jet bridge.

I took the laughing and cheering to be "Nice one, jackass!" Directed at the pilots, of course.
(Not unlike yelling "Mazel tov!" when a waiter drops a tray in a restaurant)
