running the apu to watch a phillies game

cool, well i didnt know that about gpus. but it makes sense, ive never seen anything much bigger than a lear 36 take a gpu. i couldn't even reach where the port would be on a GV. still scratching my head on the guy not going to his meeting. but it makes a good story!

Most aircraft aircraft that take 400hz AC power have the recepticle on the lower right nose. just behind the radome.
 
We will sometimes crash or hangout in the plane as well although we don't have an APU. A lot of the small airports we go to are not comfortable to sit at for hours at a time nor really quiet for a nap. I know in the winter we wish we could have an APU. Sometimes when it is really cold and we know for sure our pax are on their way, we will start and run the right engine in feather to get some heat in the cabin.
 
I was in Aspen once when a GV pulled up and never shut down.The flight attendant got out walked to the FBO, grabbed a dog on a leash from a lineman, got back in and they flew off. Or course it was a bit weird so I asked the CSR.

She said that the family lives there but went to New York for the month. Apparently the kids missed the dog so Dad sent the plane to get it!

It's thier money, sad but true!
 
remember, to most of these folks this is like us getting in our cars and the cost of driving for a few hours. It is really not even noted in their "spending" minds. Do you fret while seeing if you can afford eating off the value menu at taco Bell? (ok, if your a pilot you might). To us it is no big deal. Same thing with many clients in the corporate world.

We often times will drop off our PAX in a another state and then dead head a few hours back home in the plane, then dead head back to pick them up a few days later. OR we go on vacation with them, and we stay a week (on their dime) of whatever cool place they are at . . . whole trip cost more than I make a year, and they dont even blink an eye.
Heck, running an APU for a few hours is nothing! And it is a turbine, so once it gets going, it isnt like running it forever is going to damage it or anything. The real issue, as stated earlier, was WHY did they care about a Philli's game?!?!??!
