Crosswind components - if the wind is 60° from centerline it’s all crosswind (so 10 knots of wind you have 10 knots of crosswind) and at 30° from centerline it’s half (10 knots of wind is now 5 knots of crosswind). From there just interpolate a little.

I seen your watch in your signature and thought you was using the watch method!

60 degrees is all the way around the watch, so its full crosswind, 30 degrees is half way around the watch, so its half crosswind, 45 degrees is 3/4 the way around the watch, so its 3/4 the crosswind!

I hadn’t heard that one, a very smart Swiss student taught me this trick a long time ago. Been using it ever since.
