How'd you like the Whale? There used to be 5 of them based at Phoenix-Deer Valley Airport being used by a company called Thunderbird Aviation. T-Bird ran government contract testing and target towing using the Whales, 2 EA-7L Corsairs, 3 Canadair T-33s, 2 F-8 Crusaders, 2 A-37 Dragonfly's, a C-123, and an OV-1 Mohawk.

Very interesting aircraft. T-Bird was located at DVT in what is now the Cutter Aviation hangar. Their Whales were old VAQ-33/34 birds, and I think they're at VNY now, with one at TUS. The only remaining planes from their operations at DVT are the 2 F-8s, and the C-123.

Did east coast as an S-3 bubba, then Okinawa/PACRIM as P-3 dude.
