Robby in the Wind

Still trying to figure out what “wind took over the helicopter” statement by the pilot means.

Pardon my recent ignorance of all things Robby....haven't flown one or maintained one...

LTE? Poor pedal application? High winds? let go of the control yoke? Interesting statement

You tell me!

I've been convinced on stuff I've read here about helicopters that wind can easily bring one down. A certain wind blast can send the helicopter into a LTE scenario? Or that one rescuing people from a mountain, there was a small shift in the wind, and the heli just spirals out of control and crashes. Or that tour helicopter that took of the grand canyon, got caught in a wind gust, and slammed down into the ground and everyone burned alive (witnesses heard screaming).

i was wondering what his expanded description of the phrase means in his situation in this accident. What occurred that made him say that?
