RIP Dan Wills.

wow!

I almost flew with him for my private, but ended up with Gary instead.

Very humbling that even an experienced guy like that can be claimed in a GA plane crash. We all have to be careful.

Very sorry to hear this.

RIP.

This stuff never gets easier to read when I sign on here. :( Sorry to hear it hit so close to you Tim.

Dan was the kind of guy you could meet once and never forget. He was one of the most prolific flight instructors and examiners in the northeast. I brought all of my students to him even though there were many examiners that were closer.

I had one student in particular who was very nervous. Dan just modified his oral, alternating aviation questions with his characteristic raunchy jokes and hilarious story telling throughout the whole test.

I loved hanging out in Malone, he was the airport there. He will be missed not just by the aviation crowd, but the entire Malone area community.

My condolences to the family.

I am not trying to step on anyone's toes, but I am curious, how can it be that this happens to the most experienced? He was a DPE, Ben Hill was a Gold Seal CFI. Of course we don't know what happened, but If anything you would expect the professionals and the experienced to get out of bad situations.

Again, my utmost respect to everything, it just made me thinking.
