Review on Spartan in Tulsa, OK

as a spartan alumini, i rate spartan on a scale of 4 out of 10. i went to spartan to do flight training, but my advisor told me that if i did a tech program before, than i would not have to pay 2k up front, and automatically get enrolled into the flight program. turns out once i finished my tech program i did not automatically get enrolled into the flight program and i had to pay money upfront. than once i got into the flight program, i was not satisfied with the cfi's. half the time my cfi would cancel the flight or not schedule me down. also my cfi's would be 10-15 min late all the time. i guess that is the way they do business at the school. another funny thing, i got no-showed for canceling a flight due to storms in the Tulsa area. my flight instructor i had at the time said that the weather was good-flying wx for a c-152! So if you are thinking about going to this school for flight training, I would seriously, seriously think twice. If you are a person that would spend $175/2hr block for a cfi to to be late for a lesson, feel free. has anyone been in the same situation with a school or spartan? if anyone has any more questions about spartan feel free to ask! they say are in the tope 3 schools in the world??? if you go to any website, they are not even mentioned or if so they are not top 3. ive spoken to many pilots...ual, nw, skywest, aa. most of them never heard spartan. the few that did had negative comments. I had a job interview for Mesaba for a tech job, the 3 company mangers never heard of spartan and wondered what kind of school was it. Well thanks for my review, and take it seriously please..no joke!

Thanks for the review. There is very little info about Spartan out there but what there is isn't very positive. I don't know how the do it. Guess it's a testament to how far you can get with fancy ads in the common aviation mags.

Hi all, I am brand new to this Forum. I am a new pilot with Skyway Airlines, and a graduate of Spartan College of Aeronautics, I spent four very long years there. I can give you any information that you want about that school. For starters, if wanting to become an airline pilot is your dream I would consider it, also I have taught at ATP as well as an FBO in texas so I can give info from all different angles.

In looking for places to do my training, I had contacted Spartan for more information. By the time they finally got around to sending me the information I had selected a university program that was a state school (CHEAPER!) and alot closer to home on Long Island, NY. After not hearing from me a recruiter called from Spartan asking why I hadn't signed up yet (as if I was going to decide just on their brochure alone.)

I began to tell him I had already chosen a school that was closer to home and cheaper, but before I could get the cheaper part out he goes "HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GOING TO BE AN AIRLINE PILOT AND NOT LEAVE HOME?" That summed it all up for me, I hung up on him right there and haven't looked back since.
