Reusable Earplugs

Hi folks,

Did a search for this on the forum but didn’t come up with anything recent.

I’m looking for a set of reusable earplugs to buy online. Preferably on Amazon. Wondering if anyone out there owns a particular brand that they can vouch for.

I fly for an ACMI carrier. Lots of time spent on noisy cargo ramps, and my jet doesn’t have the quietest flight deck.

Thanks in advance! Cheers!

I got ear mold made for my headset and for an extra 25 bucks I got ear plugs from the same mold. I think total cost for the 2 molds, 2 headset in ear molds and the ear plugs was ~150 bucks. Now I went to an ear doctor to get the molds made, I think you can do it yourself, but the price is much cheaper the. Hearing aids or other hearing issues down the road.
Good luck and smart on you to be thinking about this sooner rather than later.

I use Eargasm (yes real name) plugs around my box hauling job..they are made for concerts so they are gel type outer with perforated center to reduce volume but not sound clarity. They have been working really well.

For about $25 you can get Decibullz from Amazon. You can mold them in hot water, and remold them if needed. Somewhere around a 30db NRR depending on if you use the foam or silicone tips.

Someone I flew with had a paid made at Oshkosh that were molded to their ear. I think they were like $60 but they said it was worth it. That’s pretty much all I know about them though

I use these earplugs. Easy to clean, small enough hard-case to carry in the shirt pocket all day, comfortable, and seem to really cut down the noise. At 10 dollars for a 3 pack, I was pleasantly surprised.

A good handkerchief works well too

Thanks for the input folks. Went with the Eargasm brand. Seems like it will be a good option if I want to be able to take off my headset at altitude. Should still be able to hear other pilots while still protecting my hearing.
