Reputable flight schools in the Atlanta area.

Hey out there! I would like to know if anyone could recommend any reputable flight schools in the ATL. Of course pay is an issue (as I live in N.Y.C. and don't want to leave here to get paid just $10 to $12/hr, but I know...cost of living and stuff), but I'm looking for a work enviroment where I could have fun while continuing to work on my credentials for the airlines. Multi-engine time is important of course (well, I managed to NOT get the rating yet:( ), and I just would like to instruct in a SAFE twin. If there aren't many multi-students, then I'll just have to pay for most of my time like alot of us have to anyway.
I have just over 1,000 hours of total time, and over 800 dual given, and oh, I left the industry for a few years and I am looking to get back in (this is a GREAT self-selling point:sarcasm: ), and I will work my butt off to make sure that I provide quality instruction to my "padawans". And oh, Dallas, TX and Seattle, WA may be on my radar screen as well. And thanx to all who respond:rawk: . Oh yeah, I'm a Spartan grad...and I'll personally vouch for the excellence of the FLIGHT INSTRUCTION there....but...that's ALL I'm vouchin' for.

Aviation Atlanta is one of the best, good student base, part 141 older but good airplanes. Knew a few who worked there, seemed to really like it. Northside aviation up at RYY seems to be pretty good,

I personally recommend American air flight training, last time I checked they were hring a cfi. I just got hired there as a dispatcher, I start training on Thursday for my job, and have already had several lessons with them, they have 2 cfi's and I believe 5 airplanes all piper excluding the Cessna ( which is on the market) and a decathlon that is used for spin recovery and aerobatics. I have a lot of fun with the office staff and instructor, it is very professional and also very fun, if you’re for a fun and safe, but structured place to work, look no further.-Steve

Check out KRYY - I had a checkout in a new 172 at Superior Flight School there and it looked like a well run operation complete with a Piper Seneca.

While there are several great flight schools in the Atlanta area, I'd humbly suggest you check Aero Atlanta Flight Center. www.aeroatlanta.com. We easily have the best fleet at McCollum (KRYY), as well as the entire Atlanta area. Also, we only hire professional, full time instructors. (You can't be a bartender at night and show up to work the next day wiped out.) The owner of the flight school understands that flight instruction is often a bridge to other things, and is very supportive of his instructors. (In my time here, we've had three of our instructors hired by a local regional airline.) We only hire people that we can get along with, which makes the work environment a plus. Let's face it: IF you are going to withstand the life of a flight instructor, you should enjoy working with your fellow instructors. I really like where I work.

If you do make it down to Atlanta check out Quality Aviation at PDK. The owner Dan is a DE and an all-around great guy. Even though he's not looking for instructors right now he will be within the next couple months. His senior flight instructor/135 pilot is hoping to get on with net jets. The pay is some of the highest on the field ranging from $25-$65hr. Most of the multi-students own Barons which is a lot nicer than the Duchess. The downside to the school is the planes are old(not counting the Barons, Bonanza) with no bells and whistles, it's also located at one of the busiest airports so to do pattern work you sometimes have to go to nearby airports. The plus side is only five of us use the school's planes most students are aircraft owners and are older gentleman.

American Air prices for instructors are much higher though than the rest of PDK and turns away many many students. Rental rates are a litte on steeper side but close to airport norm. The biggest thing that turns away students is the price they want to quote for a private. If you are looking for lots of multi then Aviation Atlanta is probably the place to look. American Air has most pre-private students and very few instrument students.

Thanx guys! If there's more, keep 'em coming. I did look into Falcon though, and they seem to be a top knotch outfit. The problem is, I may have just enough cash to move down there and get started teaching....I don't know if I could afford what it would cost for me to go through their evaluation process.:(
