INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2014-- Republic Airways Holdings (NASDAQ: RJET) today announced that it has reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) on a new four-year contract with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Local 357. Local 357 represents more than 2,200 pilots for sister companies Chautauqua Airlines, Republic Airlines and Shuttle America.

The proposed contract includes increases in pay that will place Republic pilots at or near the top of its airline peers. It also includes improvements in work rules, quality of life enhancements and more flexibility in scheduling as well as a significant signing bonus if ratified. The TA still must be presented to union members for review and a formal ratification vote, which is expected in March.

That didn't take long or anything..

According to some union reps, they will be presented with it next Friday for analysis. Then present it to the group a few days after.

Ha. Wow. That sounds.... menacing?

Pretty much, its a big improvement but still far short of what we COULD get considering the demand for pilots right now.

Word is nobody at the RAH union has seen the TA yet. Word is the entire TA was negotiated between the company and IBT National.

This is true, David Bourne, and pilots from Horizon, ABX, and others with our NC basically observing...

I gotta say that in an ideal world, I don't thinkt his would be a bad thing. That said, I wouldn't want ALPA national going to bet for us with their current position towards the regionals.

But in an ideal world, having national do your negotiating with a solid input from your MEC should, in theory, keep everybody on the same playing field with regard to whipsawing.

What the hell, why even have a NC.

The national pulled rank because... well its a long story, I actually kind of understand why they did it. There was a member of our NC that was hell-bent against the company (don't want to name names), combine that with some company stone-walling and a crappy "last best final offer" that the NC swatted down last year. Furthermore, we spent over a year integrating the seniority list with MW and F9 and you have 6.5 years of negotiations. I've seen some of the details, I was going to post them but I'll wait... its about 60% of what we wanted. Not enough for me but at least we're not lowering the bar. If it passes we'll have the highest first year regional FO rate, except for maybe Horizon...

It's a little different with us since we're IBT not ALPA... but like I said its not concessionary thank God.

Ahh whatever, its already been leaked on our union forums so I'll put it up here:

Everything in LBFO +
- One additional holiday

- Premium pay for over 87 hrs (no information about what premium pay is)

- Allows co-bases like JFK/LGA within 50 miles (HELL NO)

- Hybrid basis (protects IFP/ACY)

- 3 day vacation slide either way

- Short call Reserve 2 hours (from 1.5)

- Added long call reserve (12 hours), but the devil is in the details if the company has to use it

- Requires pilots to be contactable by notification

- Adds option of self notify

- Removed trade limit

- If pairing ends by 0200 still considered same day, pretty much the same as before

- Reserves can bid open trips within 7 days

- FIFO call out system (First in First Out)

- 4 hours min day credit for day trips

- 5 hours of pay for airport standby pay, they made a big deal about this but it was in our old CBA, the company rarely uses it...

- Duty rig : 1:2.5

- Trip rig : 1:4.2 (its useless)

- Full CX pay

- $8 mil bonus to be divided up, DOH prior to 12/31/2007 gets $5k, after that its pro-rated down equally

This is unofficial so we'll see what is put out next week.

What does LBFO mean?

Overall sounds like good stuff. Really pay attention to the language though. When the XJT TA came out I skimmed through the big ticket items and was pretty happy with it.

Then I heard everyone getting angry and went back to read things closer. Stupid stuff like "min monthly gurarntee is 75 hours." But then later you read that if you don't bid 75 hours or more, MMG drops to 65.

Devil is in the details! Hope it's a good one for you guys though.

Thanks. The company made a "Last Best Final Offer" in Jan/Feb of 2013... it lacked CX pay and the backlash from the pilot group was harsh. Per our union bylaws we we're supposed to vote on any LBFO from the company. The company knew it wouldn't pass, so they added a $12 mil signing bonus. The union said "well, this isn't really your LBFO is it?" and said no.
