Renting car in ATL for CFI program

Hello, I am enrolled in the March 13 CFI program in ATL. I assume if I am staying in the apartments I am going to need a rental car. Do most people get a rental car or call a cab or is there a bus or something. I checked on the rental car and the best price I can get for the two weeks is $585.00.Any ideas...and is there anyone else attending this date at ATL?
 
Dude, goodluck in ATL. Those apartments have a steel gate thats a real PITA! I would suggest a rental car, because I'm not sure a taxi would be able to get in there. A taxi would cost you way more than $500 for two weeks. I'd say get a rental, and wait and see who else is in your class. You might be able to have a roommate or classmate that has their own car, and you can ditch the rental and car pool with them.

Get a rental car and then put in for a reimbursement with ATP after you are done... They will credit it to your credit card.

I thought it's only for Career pilot students?

No they will not!

I'd get a rental car only for the first couple of days to a week. 1 week max. Then re-evaluate your situation. You may be on your way to Florida the first Sunday night after the program starts on the Monday morning. You may find yourself able to catch rides to the airport with other people in your class. Be generous in giving rides while you have the rental car at first, then work out an arrangement where you can ride with someone else later.

Well, after checking prices at numerous car rental places and combining that with the cost of a plane ticket I have come to the conclusion that I am going to do the unthinkable.....Drive my little Honda all the way from Oklahoma City to Atlanta. My brother lives in Memphis so I guess I can stop half way. I would really love to hear from anyone who is attending this class date.....March 13 in Atl. I will be happy to provide someone else with a ride. Also if anyone else has any advise for me i am all ears...I think i am going to need all the help I can get.
 
Most the time you can get a ride with an instructor or another student. We have some great guys here that would let you get a ride from the apartments with them.
 
Yeh, I don't think ATP will reimburse you for a rental car..

Alot of guys drive to ATL for the program.. However, some of the guys just rode with other students..

You will be there from ~8am until 9pm each night for the first week with Mr. Kelley Macfarland as your instructor..

Then the 2nd week, you will be flying, so you'll have to figure something out.. Chances are, you can find a ride.. You will probably be staying in an apartment with a career student..
