rental cars under 25

Maybe this isn't the place to post this but I figured maybe there are some other pilots on here who have dealt with being stuck somewhere and getting high charges for cars because they're young. Anyone know of any way to get a cheap rental in the San Diego area under 25 years old? It looks like http://www.bnm.com/atwest.htmATWEST Rent a Car has charges as low as $5 a day for underage compared to $25 to $50 a day at some other companies but I've never heard of the name. Would I be getting myself into a weird deal? Thanks.

I just scheduled a rental car from Enterprise and they charged me a one time (not per day) $30 dollar underage fee. I'm 21.

I've rented from Enterprise too, and I am under 25. I don't remember what I was charged, but it wasn't anything significant.

Enterprise, last I knew, was one of the few that would even let under-25's rent AT ALL. And I rented from them all the time while I was 19 and trying to use my flight bennies. I don't remember a special charge for being underage.

Go on their site to get a quote. The first time you do it, enter your birth year as 1975. Then do it again as 1989 and see what happens.

I was shopping around a couple months ago for a rental car. One place (can't remember which one) would let underage drivers rent but they charged something like 125 bucks per day EXTRA. If you returned the car safely they gave back the $125 (times number of days).

I understand where these rental agencies are coming from but 25 is pretty tough. I can see 21 if the person has had their license for 5 years and nothing major on their driving record.

when i was in florida, my uncle couldnt find a place to rent a car. low and behold there was a almighty " Rent a Wreck" believe it or not. He got a sweet 98 3 hubber dodge neon, cant remember how much it ran, but there should be more out there!!

I've been able to rent from Enterprise with no problem. Then again, it may be because I'm not single, and I am military.
