Appreciate your posts, Doc! I had a series of family deaths over a short period of time, was diagnosed with major depression, received both counseling and pyschotropic drugs, for roughly a year. I then spent about a year without any counseling or drugs, or flying. Upon my attempt to return to flying I then spent 6 months in counseling, no drugs and I then submitted all of my records, doctors notes, and dr's evaluation that I had made a fully recovery. I did not have to take any tests to satisfy the FAA they only asked for and received the documentation on my treatment.

About 6 weeks after submitting my medical, the FAA in OKC approved my First Class medical application. In the letter there was nothing about what I would need to do for renewal, all it said was that I had a duty to disclose if my condition changed, or had new symptoms and if I received new treatment. The letter also stated that a reference number for me had been established for locating my file.

During my period of exercising my license, I have not seen a psychiatrists or a counselors, nor have I used any type of anxiety medication or psychotropic drugs since my recovery, do I need to go through the process again or can my AME simply issue me my First Class medical if I report no relapses? Do I need to have a letter from my psychiatrist to show my AME stating that I have not seen him? Thanks!

This sounds like a letter of eligibility and it should state " you are eligible" and if that is the case, you just need to go to the AME to get a medical.
