Remote Pilot Operator

From the sounds of it, it is a VERY SLOW process.

Haha, that's an understatement! I applied on 9/8/09, had my interview on 10/14 down at A80, submitted my eQIP about a week from there, got my approved DOT F (to get my security badge *once* hired) on 10/28, and I've been waiting ever since...the rayjobs website has my application currently listed as "interview." At least that's different that before...it started as "submitted" to "in review" to "interview."

But that's more progress that what I've read from most of the people who have applied. I just can't wait to get started!

I applied at the end of July. Haven't interviewed, haven't heard a peep from Raytheon since. It's as if I never applied.

I applied back in August, had two phone interviews, and was hired at a tracon facility in early December. Two weeks later my HR rep called and said that everything was frozen for FAA contract negotiations. I'm supposed to know sometime in February if I am still hired.

:yeahthat:

I went through the same steps and am also waiting for any news for my position down south of ATL.

I talked to my HR rep a few days ago, and she said that there was a good chance that my facility would not be affected by the contract changes. Things are still up in the air, but she asked me if I was still interested in the job. Of course, I said yes, and she said that she would keep me in consideration. I would encourage anyone who was offered a job before the freeze to call Virginia and let them know that you are still interested (if you are).

"no longer being considered for this position". :(

Sorry to hear, aloft, and I'm not meaning to ruffle any feathers, but on my Rayjobs page, it shows my status as "interview." Does anyone have an idea as to what that means? It's been "interview" since November.

"Interview" is good. Basically, your resume is pulled off the website by a facility manager. He then gets a HR rep from Virginia to contact you, and it goes back and forth. During this ping pong phase, your application status should say "interview." When (if) you are hired, all your other applications become inactive.

Aloft-how many positions did you apply for? I would recommend applying for all of them. I did, and I participated in phone interviews for two facilities. I was finally "hired" (whatever that means) by one of the facilities that I interviewed for. If you only apply for one position, you're more than likely not going to go anywhere.

Do not hold your breath. RPO staff are being laid off at virtually every facility I know of. Every RPO at my facility has been let go, Indy was cut 75%, Minneapolis 75%, Cleveland 50%, etc. Our last day of work is 2/9 and then we're out on the street.

The facility where I was hired hasn't laid off any RPO's as of yet. He still hopes to bring on a few in the coming few weeks. As always, anything is possible. It may vary based on the contract company and location. It's all up in the air.

The facility I work at ZSE has had a temporary 30% reduction in hours...The big brass are coming in on Monday to implement a more permanant solution (READ AS: we will all be gone soon)

I don't think any facilities will be hiring any time soon. I do know that the entire Raytheon contingent at Anchorage was let go recently.

We were told we would have a 30% hours reduction, then the next week we were told we were exempt from that reduction in hours because our facility has so much training left to do, then the following week we heard the axe may be coming down, then the week after that the axe did come down and we were all told we were being laid off. Our last day is tomorrow.

Well... at Seattle Center, all but 2 of the RPOs at our facility are being cut, with our last day being the 19th. The claim is that the FAA has reduced funding for this fiscal year. :whatever:
