Glad to see things are back to normal in this forum. There is nothing like reading a few good Comair Academy, err DCA bashings to bring a smile to ones face. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif
It all came into perspective a short while back while flying into MCO about to descend for the Leese 1 Arrival. It was fairly early morning, great visibility, very smooth air, with that early morning wispy ground fog. The kind of conditions that bring a smile to your face knowing it was worth the very early morning show. The radios were very quiet on this morning. Then a familiar friend calls into Jax. "5302K ...uhhh...(student fumbling on the radios)...uhhh..." Then the instructor gave a helping hand with the call. I was surprised to hear them on our freq., but the radios were quiet. All I could do was just smile even more, for not too long ago, I was that student, then I was that instructor, in that exact same airplane. Alot of good memories in that plane. Now I'm flying over them, drinking that great airline coffee, and flying fast. Life is good. I went to Comair Academy, I busted my butt, I interviewed at the Academy to instruct, I sweated in the cockpit teaching in the Florida summer heat (and loved every minute of it), fulfilled my contract, was given the opportunity to interview at the airline of my choice. Now I'm flying for them, going from a Seminole to a jet, and loving every minute of it. The point being, their program worked for me and hundreds that I know personally (and many that I don't). Who knows where I'd be if I chose another route. I thank my blessings everyday on where I'm at, being able to do the job I love. Is the program for everybody? Definitely not. But to all the people that still insist that DCA doesn't deliver, what rock are you still living under (and how's the view)? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buck.gif
As far as the marketing goes, read between the hype. You're suppose to be smart, educated individuals that can think for themselves, and fly advanced aircraft oneday. Don't forget how bad some of the ads were in the past- the ad showing a pilot with a girl in a wedding dress getting married? I forgot what the caption read, something very cheesy, but what were they thinking? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/insane.gif
