out of curiosity, i can't find it in the regs anywhere, but part 91 operations, are firearms legal aboard ga aircraft?
i know there are certain limitations about part 135 operations, but nothing in regards to ga part 91.

don't worry, im not planning on going up with any firearms aboard my cessna, haha.

If you're flying in some remote areas, you'll want to carry that firearm - a good rifle would do, a pistol won't be very effective against bears.

They are! You'll probably run into more trouble transporting the weapon through FBO's . . .

I've not had any issues.

If i remember correctly its required you carry a firearm in alaska!

Also they are legal...how else would you be able to take those weekend huntin trips.

Why should we be worried? Can you be trusted with an airplane but not with a firearm?

Just be carful as to where the plane is coming from. Sometimes FBOs will have it in their rental agreement that firearms are prohibited on board. Other then that, it is legal.

BTW, Loyde, is that an old picture of you?

Ha ha, flashback from college. I borrowed some money from a girl in my class and in the same time period she had also bought me some BJ's while out at the bar. So I went to her apartment to pay her the money back and gave it to her boyfriend since she wasn't there. I said, "Tell her I said 'Thanks for the b---j--s!'"

or a shotgun with slugs

pilots are not required to carry a gun in alaska but most of us do. usually a handgun either carried on person or or in the seat next to them. always keep it conceiled (legal in alaska.) a handgun will work just fine on a bear as long as you know how to shoot and dont start shooting until you can smell their breath. also we do deal with unrully passengers and when your alone out there its not a bad last resort

man, I wouldn't want to try and handgun a griz. I've watched the old man pop one in the boiler room 4 times with a .338 win mag and that guy was just sort of walking around like "WTF M8?"

when we were up in canada I'd go out salmon fishing (we were like, east of jeaneau 80 or 100 miles) I kept a little baretta riot gun on my back with slugs and I think a couple loads of 00 buck if he kept coming, JMO.

As a side note, it is legal to conceal carry in CO while driving in a car for "protection or any other lawful means", wonder if the same applies to airplanes :p not that it matters.
