Regionals? Which for my situation

Why "Drinky Crow" is off the air and bearded doofuses shooting at ducks isn't, is another reason I'm proud to be cable-free.

holy crap ok. so from what i gather, try to live in home base. since my goal is South Florida, I should get on with Eagle.

That however doesn't have to be (I think). I can just apply everywhere and then move to whatever base. Ok I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think we're gonna make it

As someone in a similar situation and around many others doing the same thing, it is totally a buyers market out there for the 1500+ hour CFIs who have a clean record. And from what I've observed most are choosing regionals with bases close to home. All the guys from up north are going to XJT, RAH, and GoJet. The boys from the south are heading to XJT, TSA, and Mesa. It just kind of depends on where you want to be and what is the best deal for you since the market is so unstable and the pay blows.

how hard would it be to commute PBI/FLL/MIA to ATL for something like XJT? (Assuming that's the most junior base of course)

Definitely don't apply to XJT.

Go to Commutair. Upgrade in a year and be off to United in three.

Welcome to the big leagues.

Is that the general consensus as far as getting to majors? Any TPIC regardless of prop or jet?

If so, GoJET?

For the companies that say they require TPIC, they want TURBINE PIC. I have yet to see one that specifies jet/prop.

FedEx seems to be going that route. I flew with a Brasilia CA a couple of years ago that had a strong internal, and got an interview. They told him to come back after getting some RJ time.

I know a guy at FedEx, been there 2-3 years and he's trying to get out. Misses the passenger interaction and day flying, so he's trying for United.

Upgrade is really 1 year there?? That's almost worth considering

The guy that actually works there has already stated multiple times that's not the case.

Number one rule at the regionals: Present upgrade time can be VASTLY different than the future.

Oh my god, you guys have become quite dense since I've stopped posting 327 messages a day.

ALMOST TWO years is still shorter than XJT. So, big F'in deal.

Doing this as a job is laughable and I do not recommend it to anyone, any longer.

Especially dealing with false leaders like Charlie Tutt, Courtney Heidiek, and Jessica Bledsoe. XJT has fired the previous Director of Crew Support for lesser offenses than being prepared for FAR117. Unreal.

Go 91 corporate. 121 is full of empty promises and being jerked around by unions that say they're there for you. Or go to Skywest.

What is making you stay tied to Florida?

Yeah, because no one in 91 Corporate has ever made an empty promise or been jerked around.

That said, it is nice that your "seniority" is somewhat portable. Basically, in the 91 world you're worth exactly what you can negotiate. Which is good, because some have to negotiate a lot.

Good luck with that.

I've been preaching that for decades and people give me the "Phsawwwwwww'right! OLD MAN! HAHAHAHAHAH!! That another website said…" and eight years later, from the FO seat of a RJ they're preaching "Don't chase the fast upgrade because it's certainly going to be different for you!"

It was slightly sarcastic but it is nice being able to negotiate or bounce out and not have someone do it for you.

I suppose. After trying a little bit of everything in this industry, I really don't know what the best path is anymore. Just try to enjoy the ride, use your time off to pursue hobbies outside aviation, and hang out with friends/family as much as possible. Other than that, just hope that luck is on your side.

Here too. If you make professional aviation the alpha and omega of your life, it's going to spank that ass.
