Regional Pay, Work Conditions, Safety

Its hard to argue a lot of these points. My question (from the outside looking in) is:

Where are the unions? Allowing someone to fly a regional jet for $20k is embarrassing to the industry and could be down right unsafe. During the last hiring boom, instead of raising pay to attract more experienced pilots, some regionals dropped down to Commercial Multi, with no hourly requirement.

If these regionals can't afford to pay someone above a McDonald's cashier to be responsible for lives of 20+ people in the back, they probably shouldn't be in business.
