I know I've turned into an absentee poster on this forum, but CFIing has been busy, and I've been working many weeks, 7 days a week. I've flown about 500 hours in the past year, my total time is 920, multi time is 196 (it would be 200 by now if my multi student didn't cancel on me all the time!), and dual given is around 500. I've just finished my 5th PPL candidate with a pass, and have 2 more planned to finish their checkride this week.
Influenced by parents wanting me to "get on with it" and after just over a year of good instructing experience, I've set a goal to be with a regional airline by May 2006. I called up ATP (where I did the 90-day program) and they told me that the CRJ class they offer is tied in with many of the airline hiring programs. I'm working on my ATP written right now, and should be done with that in 1-2 months (want a 90% or above before I take it). Is this a reasonable goal- in the fact that most of the interview reports I've been reading show candidates with flight experience well above mine? I enjoy flight instructing, and my students are worth every ounce of effort I've put into training them, but my current flight school is not really "move-on" friendly, and our owner looks down upon the fact that my goal is eventually the airlines.
