ATP Written is a must and a college degree is preferred but not required by most...

I wouldn't really say ATP written is a must. But I'd say it would really help! Same goes for a college degree.

I used to think you needed both but I know that is not true anymore.
I know a guy who just got hired by ExpressJet who is only 18 years old, he was just over 500TT, didn't do the ATP written and never stepped onto a college campus.
So the answer to the question is that they are not very important. Time is the key!

I hardly think time was the key if he got on with 500TT. Maybe timing, but hardly time.
Back to the initial question. College will make you more marketable. Additionally, you may or may not have time to get a degree once you start flying for a regional. If you don't, your possibilities of advancement beyond the regional are pretty small in the current job market. The ATP written.... not required for an interview. Might help if there is a written test during the interview that pulls from the ATP test bank. A few companies out there require that you have the written done before you start training.

I have seen on several regionals websites that the ATP written is required. While that is not the case for some, it seems that it is starting to become required by more and more. Actually just took it yesterday and I'm definately glad to have it out of the way.
