Regarding dorm housing; you should read this

Are you talking about the new cadillac STS? That car is the balls. Expecially the STS-V. You're damn right I'd take one of those over the new M5. It sounds better at lest. :rawk:

But I'm a little biased towards the GOOD domestics. God knows the run of the mill cars coming from ford and GM are just terrible. In the way I like cars at least.

"YEAH, lets not even offer a manual as an OPTION in most of our cars!!!" -GM and Ford.

It was the new STS with the Northstart V8, but not the STS-V. I actually like the auto with the "so called" manual shift on the right side. It works really well in STS. They're coming out with a 6 speed auto next year.

This new job of mine has me driving some nice cars. I can't tell you how awesome On Star is along with GPS navigation. I love it!!

Wow, I just looked at the sts-v real quick and wasn't even aware that the didn't offer a manual transmission for the sts. Damn, I guess I'll go back to drooling over the CTS-V. I guess I can't complain too much. EVERYONE is abandoning the traditional manual and going either with the bump shifting automatics or the automatic clutch/padal shifting manuals. I guess if I had to choose, I'd rather have an automatic with "manual mode" since I like boosting the power on everything and automatics are stronger than manuals. A traditional manual is still the most fun to drive in my opinion.

How can you not love this car:

oK OK, I know I'm a BMW nut, but I really dislike the new BMWs because they really 'Americanized' their autos, and it looks like a G6 kind of.

So unless they drop the cup holders, bring the old looks in a new bold way, I'll be super happy.

Driving an old 5 series may be costly, and yes I am finally getting a transmission! But I'll tell you even when I got my car towed, and sat in it, after months of driving other cars, I remembered why I spend so much money on this car. They really thought about the driver in their design!
Hmm now maybe I should get a new m5 engine in my old bugger.

Check this link out too, thought it was funny

"Before leaving we did the a test for our American friends: The "Large McDonalds Cola drink holder test" passed flawlessly. We did not eat anything inside the car naturally. On the picture above you can also see parts of the Alcantara headliner, which is included in the full leather-option, as well as the black full-leather on the door-sides as well as on the dash."

Ok I admit, it's nice to have cup holders, and McDonalds too I guess. I lived in the states long enough (6 years)

No no, I wasn't comparing the sport suv's to the M5. I was comparing them to the X5.

There's no question that the e39 M5 is the best performing sedan ever made. Unless you count evo IIIV and wrx stis as sedans, which I really don't except that they have four doors. They're really a two door car with 4 tiny doors. It's also the pinnicle of BMW design and styling. The new M5 however has lost it's way I think and no longer really holds that *best performing* sedan title anymore. I believe that title now belongs in the hands of the cts-v.

Even though the cts was made to compete with the 3 series(how, I dont know, since it hands any 3 series its butt on the track), not the 5 series, the new 5 series is just too heavy(it weighs more than a ford crown victoria), and too centered around being a super luxury sedan(like a smaller 7 series) rather than being a semi luxury sedan that kicks ass. Like the e39 did.

Thats why I put the M5 in there. I don't like the X5 much.

Yeah, I dont really like ANY car chassis based suvs. Heck, I dont really like any new suvs at all. They're too girly now. They've gone from being work horse offroad maniac machines to huge yuppy station wagons. Trucks are sadly starting to head in the same direction. Everytime I see some sissy with wearing a polo shirt driving an suv or truck and complaining about how it doesn't ride or handle well. I want to punch them in the face. I feel the same way about seeing less and less vehicles having a traditional manual transmission as an option. I'd say 95% of the people driving on the road now are just friggen lazy, weak, and completely incompitant. I'll stop before I get to into this because I could type a thesis on this, but you get my point I'm sure.

There's no question I'd take an e39 over any sedan out there.(except for MAYBE a modified chevy impala, only because those are mean as hell) But as far as the e61 goes, I'd have a hard time taking that over anything cadillac's cts-v and maybe the sts-v.
