Recruiter BS?

Recruiters at Compass are putting hotel benefits as part of your salary now

I'm sure soon you'll be able to make 100,000 as a starting new hire FO after they include your flight benefits!!!

Get out, really? Ha!

Just prior to us starting contract negotiations the Company sent us a "value of benefits" letter to try to justify our low hourly rates. It included reasonable things like our cheaper than average health care premiums, our pretty good VEBA access, and our retiree health plan. It also included an $80k/per year value on our "travel benefits". Even with a family of four, you'd have to travel a whole lot in a year to hit $80,000 of travel.

Way too many variables to predict what you will be able to hold beyond the near future. I just completed my 737 CA upgrade training, and I'm very near the 10,500 mark on the list. I can only hold G4 fo in LGA/PHL/MIA. PHL 330 would be the best seniority for me, at 70%, MIA 777 I'm 90%, and LGA 777 95%. I'm near, or over 1,000 #'s away from G4 fo at all the other bases.

When I was over at the school house, I met a guy that has been a 737 ca for the last 18 years, he is going to 787 fo in LAX, and is in his mid/late 50's. I also know a 64 year old 777 fo who just bid 73 ca, so he can retire as a captain.

G3 (767) fo probably isn't worth the small raise, for the QOL hit from G2 (737/bus) fo, unless you live in base, and it's a dying bid status.

I also ran into a few Envoy instructors who said Envoy is going to start assigning junior fo's to ca seats, because they don't have enough people bidding ca.

Congrats on the upgrade. Just curious, what is G4?

Group 4. American groups their aircraft into pay bands. Group 4 is (I believe) the 330 and 767-400, 777, 787 and 350.

I don't know if they have commuter hotels. I took this as hotels on trips/training is now considered part of your salary. :p

They have commuter hotels and this is the bean counter value attached to it.

I’m not sure how. Good money still but not A LOT more. 85 hrs on G2 is around $160k doing the math.

It takes around five+ to hold junior G4 slots in Philly.

If you fly 85/month you have to add the $25,000+ in DC. (Profit sharing/perdiem/other random stuff) Puts you at 200k+

I’m at PSA and I’m definitely not waiting on the flow. It’s a nice back up to my back up plan I suppose if nothing else pans out. I plan on upgrading as soon as my number comes up, get my time and start applying.

I had a copilot that was part of the EDV SSP program that talked some smack about another EDV guy that left, went to "Brand X" then ended up senior to him at SouthernJets.

"And you're mad out 'what'? He took a risk and was rewarded and I'm happy about that. Repeat after me: GOOD FOR HIM" :)

What's the point of waiting for a flow?

Apply where you want to go. Besides, where do you think the flow is going during the next recession?
In my case, the flow is about 6-7 months away. So why not take the flow? And I am fully aware of where a recession or anything could lead. Hell 8 months after I got hired here I was furloughed. And that lasted about 20 months. Which is short compared to most.

As far as people getting hired outside the flow, good on them. My problem is with the recruiters here that don't exactly tell the truth.
