Reasonable Aircraft Rates?

Oh, no...I wasn't making a personal attack on you. Not at all! :) It just seems like to some people (not you sldauby!) a sweet avionics package is more important than actually learning how to fly the plane! I'm not knocking a loaded plane at all...but to me, when I was in training, I placed higher priority on flying the plane than wondering what the GPS could do. One of the flight schools I considered tried really hard to sell me on using a newer model Cessna with GPS over a "bare" C-152.

Ya i totally see that, I personal like a bare 152 so much fun doing those million ciruits you do in your ppl...

All of our cessnas are equipped with GPS in them, but my instructor taught me how to fly without one first. We would use it only to bump times with what I had on my flight plan/E6B. Now that I am in my cross country phase, I learned how to program a flight plan into the GPS, but I still had to fly the airplane without using it. Nothing like pilotage at night, land on one side, ocean on the other, got it, stay on the coastline!

I've got to ask this...why do some new private pilot hopefuls feel like it's absolutely necessary to fly in a 2000-something model with gee-whiz glass panels? Am I missing something? Maybe I'm just odd, but I wanted to do my flight training in a Cessna 140/120 or Cub...but, I just couldn't find one!

I actually encourage students to fly an airplane that they're actually going to fly once they get their license. If somebody is looking to buy a modern, fuel injected, GPS-Equipped 172, I encourage them to learn in a 172SP!

NEO has a few other places to rent aircraft (172) in the $80-90 range for a 1970-79 model 172. I am guessing you are looking at BKL, but within 30 miles there are a few other options.

PM me if you want, I'm in NEO.
