Really cool!!!!

So today I am driving out to lunch with some friends and all of a sudden ssccchhhhheeeeewwwwwwww!!!!!! I look up not knowing what to expect and to my delight I see 2 F-18 Blue Angels, they are in town for the weekend and are using my home airport as their base (for the weekend). They were comming in for an approach on Rwy 1, boy were they hauling!!!

Hopefully I will be flying outta there a few times this weekend so maybe I could get some pics for everyone, they are scheduled to do a show @ Jones Beach so I'm gonna try to see it, if not I could just drive down to my village docks and be able to see alot without the hassles of going to a beach on memorial day weekend.

Did anyone else on LI see them today???

OMG, I forgot all about the Calverton show. Too bad I won't be in town...

edit- They were in Farmingdale?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!!?!?!

I don't think that they're at Calverton, I know that they are doing a show @ Jones Beach. I was about 5 miles south of FRG, I was driving through lindenhurst.
 
In the Blue Angels site, it says Calverton....... Weird....
I just heard a VERY loud jet pass by. I wonder if they came into the city.

The sound I heard reminded me of three Hornets that were landing at LGA last summer. They were going quite slow yet they were loud as hell.

man i wish i was home in NY. I use to work at Long Island Jet Center, and they have a contract with the military. Not sure if that includes the blue angels, as i remember once when the blue angels were in town they stayed at the main terminal. But it would be cool if they stayed on the Jet Center ramp although it may be to small for all of them.
 
Well if a G-IV was there the other day, along with lots of other bizjets, then I'm sure the Hornets could take their place. Leave no space for those cocky rich guys.

i was in the middle of getting dispatched today at frg. and i hear this really loud jet engine noise.. now i got the tfr that the blue angels will be around but it didnt click until i looked outside and see 5 jets taking off and defying every law of physics known to man... one thing sticks out in my head ... a barrel roll 100'agl after takeoff. wow... then i got some nice up close views of the c130 they had hanging out over there. damn i wished i had my camera. truly an amazing day.!!!!!
all of this was topped off by taking off in clear skies and clouds coming out of nowhere at around 900' .. its ok i got to shoot my first ILS approach.. of course with the aid of my CFI

yeah they werent letting anyone in to the class delta. and no touch and goes all day..
heres the email i got from the fsdo

There is a separate FDC NOTAM for the Blue Angels Airshow prior to 5/27, 28, 29 and 30th.
WHERE: A TFR is issued for 5 NM radius around the Jones Beach Monument Call FSS for
exact details.

i know that today it was from 11am local to 3pm local ... dont know about the other days. .. dont really care either im off to chicago tomorrow .weeeeeeeee

they werent on the jet center ramp .. not sure what ramp they were on but you were on new highway and look to the right you can see where they were parked not sure what hangar that is...the c130 was parked at LIJC though..
