Im creating a virtual airlien for the flight sim community and was wondering what the real world ranks within an airline is and images of teh rnak tapes if possible would be a great help.

btw, our site deals with real airline careers, not virtual... you might get better information by going to a flight sim community where they deal more with virtual reality (that is, not real life reality).

I disagree. Virtual reality is a simulation of reality. The operative word is virtual, not reality.

On a thread-related note, someone should start a virtual airline, then when it turns a profit, start furloughing employees and cut virtual pay. Realism is the ultimate goal, isn't it?

Good idea. There are some really popular virtual airlines out there with thousands of "pilots" and some pilots. They have their own software and have really good websites, create aircraft manuals and many other documents, yet they fail to do what the real airlines do. Really good idea to cut people from the roster.

Anyway, Doug gave your answer earlier. Lowest pilot position is First Officer. Next step up the ladder is Captain. That's all there is.

Airlines don't really have a 'rank' system. The CA is the final authority on the airplane, so I guess s/he would 'outrank' the other crewmembers on that particular flight. The flight attendants are labeled for the positions that they're working, but there's no one F/A that has the authority to boss the other ones around.
Do you mean the management structure? The pilots are supervised by their Chief Pilot, s/he reports to the Director of Flight Ops, who reports to the Vice-President of Operations, who reports to the CEO. (Just a generic line there, not necessarily indicitive of the specific job titles involved at each management step at EVERY airline.)
