Real ID

You all think these arguments are anything new? Lots of people lost their minds when the first metal detectors showed in the early 70s, after a series of hijackings and a few deaths, including crew.

Scan me? Paw through my luggage?

Preposterous!

Reducing threats by checking for weapons is reasonable.

Current efforts that focus on identity are kinda silly and do almost nothing to improve safety.

Felons, folks with warrants, folks pending trial for violent crimes. Those folks are okay to fly. If the No Fly List and Terrorist Watch List were credible those folks couldn’t legally visit or live in the U.S. and Customs would deny entry based solely on presence on the lists without further questions.

Most of the folks on the Terrorist Watch List have been accused of no crime, they simply are members of families that have supported political organizations that are legal in their own county. I have a friend that’s on the list because he had relatives that were in leadership positions in Lebanese Christian factions in the 70’s and 80’s.
