Southwest off in OMA the day before too. Be careful out there y’all. My question is, was this on taxi or was it a legit slide off the runway?

I flew through ORD today as a passenger. Was running better than expected, but that's likely only because of the huge number of cancelled flights.

When we were taking off, I did see a 737 sitting in what looked like a weird spot, but everything on the ground was white so it was hard to tell if it was in the grass or if its was just somebody waiting for numbers.

That caused me to be stuck in ATW all day yesterday. With the winds they were using 4R/L, so already down to 2 runways in crappy weather, then 4R got closed due to this, so I ended up doing 7:50 of duty with 0 block...2-1 duty rig ftw!

Runway Condition Reading.

In the USAF, as Supervisor of Flying for the Wing, you'd take the SOF pickup truck, cruise down the runway at a certain speed, and brake to a stop. speed/distance charts or a decelerometer gave an RCR of a high of 23 (good) to 0 (poor).

There was also the guys specially trained within the SOGs to go assess and keep a log of runways within their theatre of ownership. I remember using those guys to talk somebody out of a bad idea.

“What’s wrong? I’ve seen C-130s land on dirt.”

“Sir, Dirt would be safer than the condition of the asphalt on this field.”

One of those weeks where I'm happy to be sitting at home on my couch, with a cat, watching airline ice capades from the comforts of home.

I still remember when I briefed a medium autobrake landing and my (new to the Airbus) copilot started questioning my decisions with a "…well, on the mad dog…"

"On the mad dog, B—, there's one at the end of some northeastern US runway because they couldn't get stopped on time" :)

We had other issues that had to be addressed during the pairing but that's for "story time with uncle Derg" offline

Cat pics or it didn't happen. This is my new kitty that has feline heterochromia iridum. That just means her eyes are different color but it sound badass...
