Hey all.... I am getting ready to start @ ATP in the next 2 months and am currently bartending at night between 2 different places.... i want to quit one of them as I hate the place... I am looking for a day job and am wondering what the pay on average is for ramp/ ticketing agents with various arlines... I would like to get on somewhere with an airline doing something while I finish my ratings....

Any help appreciated..

Well first off I can honestly tell you the pay for a ramp agent or a ticket agent will not be very much, especially if your just gonna work part time.
How do I know, because I'm cross utilized for SkyWest. In Carlsbad CRQ which is in North SanDiego county we do both, ramp and counter. We get paid 10.50 hr to start, and thats only because the cost of living in Carlsbad is a little bit more than some places. It just all depends on the airline and the location at which you are working. In SFO, skywest agents get 11.25hr to start because the cost of living is so high, as to PDX, the agents I believe start at 7.50 - 8hr.
On a positive note, you do get free travel benifits so it's not so bad.
Look into it, it just depends where and with who.
If pay is an issue, I would recommend working at a FBO. They seem to pay a little more than the airlines as far as ramp goes.

Here in Denver, the ramp agents start at $10.12/hr-thats for Frontier. I believe its pretty much the same for all other airlines at DIA.
Not much--

I'd stay and do what you're doing now 'cause you probably won't make any more money doing ramp work. Money is the only issue when it comes to flight training.

Wouldn't it be a good way to network with Regional pilots though? It's all about contacts, right?

I only got $7 an hour at the local FBO and I had the pleasure of hot fueling medical and misquito control helicopters (i.e. fueling while the engines are still going.) I could understand the medical helicopter when they had a guy in the back but the mosquito control thing was just to cut down on hourly labor to save the state money.

It's true, but I'd be more considered right now to knock out all the ratings and do it more effectively with a better paying job. There is always time for networking, it's never too late, it's not going to help you much until you get your ratings done.

Also remember Seniority is something you have to think about. And being low on the ramp means you get stuck with all the shifts knowone else wants.
