Republic Airways Holdings (NASDAQ:RJET - News) announced today that it is currently accepting airline pilot applications as part of its plans to grow its pilot workforce by more than 1,000.

RAH is the "mothership". So this includes all 3 certificates, Shuttle America, Republic Airlines, and CHQ. Its all one list.

So are they going to relax their 1500TT and 300ME requirement?

Good question...You would think they'd pretty much have to in order to attain that amount of pilots. However, from my understanding the reason their mins are so high are because of insurance requirements. Something about a simulator.

It is for an insurance requirement.

I think RAH should be commended for not lowering their mins.

These should be the mins for ANY regional job.

I agree... and they must be doing something right over there because they don't seem to have a problem finding guys with 1500+

The last I remember the 1500/300 for the E170 was more a Sim certification issue than an insurance problem. I could be wrong but that is what I was told when the 170's first arrived.

I believe that if you had less than 1500TT you had to do portion of the E710 check ride in the plane.

I do agree with Seggy... Regional mins should be kept that high. I think they are getting dangerously low at some places and pretty much making some Capts basically fly single pilot.

I agree also that regional mins are getting pretty low. I also used to think that when I had 500 hours I could be an f/o, but after reading a lot on this forum and other places, I realized I would have no business in the right seat. I only asked if they were going to relax the mins a bit at RAH, at least for the 145 (CHQ), because they used to be 1000 and 100. I know the 170 mins are high because of insurance and the sims (I believe) are only level C.
