Re: 100 seat RJs finally here

Just seeing the parallels between those who see the reality here (in General Topics or Airline Pilots) and those down in the Flight Training sections willing to shell out mass amounts of money to pay for a job / training at Gulfstream through either ATP or Falcon Aviation shows the two distinct mentalities. One of them will lose, I just sure as hell it's not the one of maintaining standards that disappears.

Re: 100 seat RJs finally here

Well would have loved to eventually had flown for a mainline carrier, but it looks I may have to stay out of that segment of the industry unless things get better over there in the future. My only hopes is that it doesn't leak over into other good paying segments of this industry!

I'm sure if RAH could, they'd exploit the hell out of the remaining decent paying opportunities (ie: 135).

Don't want to jinx it of course. Especially considering how Airnet was bambuzzled many months ago by whatever holding company came to power over there.

Re: 100 seat RJs finally here

The EMB-190 is, without any discussion, a competitor against the 737.

JetBlue fly's 190's.

US Airways fly's 190's.

Now Republic fly's 190's.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the rest of your career. More and more folks are going to end up being unable to move on, so I hope ya'll have got good seats.

:yeahthat:

(See signature line below....)

Dooooooom!

Welcome to wage slavery, folks.

Get involved, write your elected officials.

I disagree. Read all the dbags posts. I'm outta here. I put it nicely. Things are a little tense on our side right now, so I'm out. Don't want to say anything else other than the obvious. Ta ta.

If you need a break, take one, but when you type angry, you lose any point you may have.

I've seen far scarier stuff in the airline business and you've never seen me lose my cool.

Try bankruptcy, a couple of paycuts and a potential furlough, then we'll talk about stress.

And I probably carried only a smidgen of the stress compared to some of our bretheren that were furloughed during "love-a-palooza" at Southernjets.

Cool down.

Add getting shot at, and you can talk stress x 2. :D

Yet I don't recall you on the forum screaming "WANNAMINGO WANNAMINGO!" between sorties in Iraq, Afghanistan and where ever else you flew.

Everyone else-

This is an emotionally charged issue. There's no denying it. But we're going to work our way through it calmly and rationally. Figure out what tools you have as a pilot group and use them.

If you're not a Republic pilot, go to your union leadership and say "Hey, what do we plan to do when our management tries to pull one of these?"

Be proactive.

OK, I'm off my soapbox.

And if any of your friends were part of the RJDC, "Thank 'Em" :sarcasm:

You're absolutely right about that statement in bold. Their is NOTHING regional about the E-170 - E -190. Nothing at all, shoot not even the CRJ-900. All we can hope for is that they establish a good pay rate to fly it......

Are they "NJs" now, or National Jets?

I just hope they can get a good pay rate that is somewhat industry standard. Of course, that might not be saying much either.....

Re: 100 seat RJs finally here

So what can be done to stop this? I fly 135 freight in a metro so I'm not sure there is much i can do but I'm curious. This is the profession i love and plan on being in for the next 40 years. What can we as a community do to stop this downfall of our careers?
This is one of those times where we'll all look back as a major milestone in our careers going downhill.
Any ideas besides denying jumpseats and throwing around labels that don't apply?

Re: 100 seat RJs finally here

I guess so..and I agree that the CRJ-900 that Im on should be at mainline, and yes there is plenty of National flying done. MEM - SLC <-------- nothing regional about that......

And if any of your friends were part of the RJDC, "Thank 'Em" :sarcasm:

The peeps that were anti-scope a couple years back because the "evil, greedy mainline pilots" were holding them down and not letting them expand with bigger equipment?

....the irony......

Remember, it's rates + work rules + scope.

You can have the highest rates for the equipment, but if you've got work rules of a four-tier Kazakhstani Airlines Martin 303 operator, pay rates don't mean jack.

Also, if you do get good rates and work rules, without a solid scope clause, you have to worry about your flying getting outsourced. Ask any Midwest pilot about the value of scope language.

Re: 100 seat RJs finally here

I hate to say it but yet again, mainline flying being outsourced. :banghead:

No, It's not. Midwest is no longer flying ANY of their flights. NONE. ZERO. NULL. On September 1st, the 717's are going away. Done. Gone. RPA is flying all of their flights.

And why do you think that is?

Ask the Midwest pilots who are going to be out of a job in September. The airline will fold...they've given all their flying to someone else.

Re: 100 seat RJs finally here

It's a cue that Midwest will cease to exist....they've struggled for a while and they cannot afford to fly themselves. That's not RAH's fault...
