Ah you beat me too it... according to the conference call the exact numbers are:

289 yes 15%
1643 no 85%

Sorry Eagle, the whipsaw has just been fired up.
 
That's 1,932 votes, I'm guessing there were almost no votes from the F9 guys (if they were even counted) since they're no longer represented by the IBT as of this week and it had no effect on them anyways. Our total ISL is about 3,090 pilots; minus F9 is about 2,390 so about 80% voter participation (again not including F9).

F9 would not be allowed to vote on this contract as it would violate the RLA if they could. Only members in good standing working for RAH could vote.

This is Great News. 3 huge pilot groups voting no. But question in Republics case: This was a improvement (polished piece of crap) to their current contract. Obviously it still had a long way to go but doesn't this mean that this is good for management since they will remain cheaper?

If management's preference was to Keep RAH under their current contract longer there would have never been a TA put out to vote. I believe the NMB had parked their negotiations indefinitely.

They will be a cheaper airline that won't be able to staff their current aircraft. The only reason they will be able to staff their current obligations is because of them starting to park their 145s.

Also add the fact that this now adds more uncertainty into the mix.

Is it considered a whipsaw if RAH voted no and they get more Eagle flying? If they voted yes they most likely would've gotten some if not all of the new Eagle 175's they were dangling at Envoy. If they voted no as they did and still get some more Eagle flying cause they're cheaper, is that still considered a whipsaw?

I guess I want to firm up the definition of a whipsaw in this case since to me as you describe it, it was going to be a whipsaw either way. One was trying to pit pilot groups against one another and the other is pitting companies against each other, with the pilots not having any say.

So is the technical definition of a whipsaw pitting the pilots against each other, the companies against each other, or both?

I personally feel the prior to be my definition. If you are using the second mentioned, then there is no way to ever Stop the Whipsaw, as pilots have zero control.

Whipsawing is moving flying from regional A to regional B bc regional B is cheaper. This can happen many diff ways, Regional A just got a Cadillac contract and is more expensive or regional B just emerged from BK after taking concessions. These are the most common ways... Pilots often have little control over this.

I said what I said above because no matter what the outcome of this vote we'd still be cheaper than SkyW, XpressJet, or AE. It was just a question of how much.

I'm just happy we didn't cede any concessions for menial pay increases and more big shiny jets.
