RAH 100 seat airplanes

Teamsters lose the greivance that RAH is operating 100 seat airplanes. RAH wins by stating they only sell 99, even though there are 100 seats on the airplane. This is imporatant because at 100 seats a new payscale would have to be derived.

So what happens if it is sold to 99 seats and a jumpseater wants to get on. Do they get the open seat in the back that is "inop" or do they ride up front? CASS prohibits pilots riding up front if there is an open seat in the back.

So is the seat just marked as "inop" or is it completely removed? I've heard they MEL'ed it for a while, but obviously you can only defer something for so long.

Oh, and BB is a piece of crap!

I believe theyve made it into some funky tray or something, but i believe it is officially de-activated (not defered). I think it has a do not use strap around it...I know they did that at one time.

Crazy (but winning) arguments such as ..."Well the FA and Pilot seats are Seats but we dont count those"...

Ill try the same argument with the FAA. Sir, I don't need a type rating on this 15,000lb aircraft, because I always fly it at a max weight of 12,499

It is so unbelievable to read this award. You want to shake the guy and say are you frickin serious? Stating if the company had done this only for the purpose of not renegotiating a new rate then things would be different.....
Well WTF, do you think they pulled a seat out of service just for fun???
Anyways, i dont know all the specifics but there is supposed to be some sort of appeal possible in this case due to some reason or another (typically not the case).
I look it at like the OJ Simpson case...The company puts together a dream team lawyer team and can make the color of the sky green.

So no copy? Even a cite? If you've got a cite I can find it real fast.

Im not sure what the policy is on re-copying that stuff

Awards are legit to recopy and post. If it's arbitrated, it's public record.

There was an award like that here about 18 mos ago. There was one grievance for Pilots and FEs. The arbitrator found for the union side for the FEs but the exact same issue wasn't found for the pilots. I was amazed the exact same issue could have two different outcomes.

As an aside, and this goes for all Embraer operators, ALL red placards must be completely legible to dispatch the airplane. Black placards can be NEF'd (or whatever the term is at RAH). At least that's the way it was from 98-07
