The mistaken assumption that you are making is that we have a right and obligation to decide what is right for people in another country.

We have a right and obligation to stand up for what we believe in. Moreover, I was not stating that we go into their country and tell them how to live. I was supporting not sending their wealthy elite billions of dollars. Not to mention, it's believed that some of that money still ends up funding terrorism.

What if there is a CFI job like this in the UK? I guess then you should call the Queen Elisabeth and tell her what you believe in, since most of the terrorist that made the news recently are actually from the UK.

I think most money that goes from the US to Saudia it`s money that the US owes to them, it`s not charity.

Your problem is that you try to find something wrong with this, I`m sure there are problems there and dangers, but this events don`t really make the rule, there are way more woman raped in the US, there is way more episodes of torture than anywhere in S Arabia.....You think if you do something wrong in the sky you will have problems, well that happens in the US too, some flight school with big Asian contracts make you fly and operate the way they want and they will never stand for you but for their contracts so at the end we have the same problems on both side the world...just be a good CFI and nothing will happen.
You really should think how an experience like this could open your mind and maybe make you a better person.

I was talking about oil money. The national debt is a whole separate issue. Who said anything about charity?

I didn't try to find anything. They were rapidly available as soon as I started researching and reading about other people's experiences.

I'm not even going to bother looking at statistics. Do you think a woman is going to report rape if she is going to receive lashings and imprisonment for it??????!!!?? I would say that one main difference is that in America, if a woman is raped, the man is prosecuted. In Saudi Arabia, the man usually goes free and the woman is prosecuted.
http://trueslant.com/nealungerleider/2010/01/21/saudi-arabia-to-lash-filipino-rape-victim-100-times/

And here's a quote from someone in Saudi Arabia: "
I'm in SA, rape is a serious issue, most people i encounter have been raped multiple times but the most common thing is that family members do not punish the offender if it is family or close family friend. they make the woman suffer & blame them for not preventing the rape. its horrible"

I was talking about those times where you get blamed for something that wasn't your fault. This happens on rare occasions but it's a big investment to risk. Just my feeling on it, not saying everybody else has to feel the same way.

Would traveling to Nazi Germany during Hitler's rule make me a better person? I wouldn't care if it did, I wouldn't be interested in that. Just because they are a sovereign nation doesn't mean I have to respect their government. I'm sure if I went there I would meet great people. Amazing people are EVERYWHERE. It's for the same people that I am standing up for. The monarchy provides enough comfort and fear at the same time and has the country in their pocket. Stockholm syndrome is possible on a large scale and any peoples opposed would find it hard to muster courage.

Did I mention that if you live in SA, converting from Muslim to another religion carries the death penalty?

EDIT: And death is by public beheading.

You are misrepresenting what happened. The man did not go free because that's the SOP in rape cases, he went free because the crime was not reported to authorities so he was not arrested or charged. He was a Bangladeshi man and from my experience in SA would not have received much sympathy from the local system of justice because imported third world workers are very much looked down upon and held to strict and harsh standards by local authorities. (It might very well have been a different story if it had been a Saudi national involved, but that was not the case here.)

The woman was not prosecuted because she was raped, she was prosecuted because a medical exam showed that she was pregnant but not married, and her employer accused her of having an illicit affair which violates Saudi law (she disagrees and says she was raped - I have no way of telling the truth here, but that's beside the point).

I'm not condoning either of those things as good. I'm just saying that your description was incorrect and rather sensationalistic.

Sorry I had not responded in a while guys. We are having an instructor meeting this afternoon and I will try to find out what I can.

Be back on in a couple of hours!

Ok, so it wasn't a couple of hours. I was told that there are about 15 resume's that are short stacked. That said I don't know when they will call. Saudi's are notoriously slow in getting things done. If I hear anything I will let everyone know.

So here is the deal. They have several resumes, I don't know the exact number, that they want to hire. Of course once folks hear the contract then they may or may not decide to come here. I will leave it to management to cover that aspect. Once they contact you and do a phone interview then they will pass your info along to the "HR" department, which is really just one person doing many jobs. When that happens hopefully it will not take long to nail down the details of a contract and then arrangements will be made to get your passport processed. After that is complete then they will make arrangements to fly you over here.

If it seems like I am being overly detailed here it is because this whole process is a pain in the ass. I don't want you to think that this will happen inside of a couple of weeks. I tentatively was hired by the then Chief Pilot towards the end of October. I then had my Passport and Visa for Saudi Arabia on December 2 but did not depart until the 23 or 24 of December.

The process will, unnecessarily, take time. There is no specific reason for this except that the culture here takes time to do things. That is not to say that they cannot get things done quickly, but it does not typically happen. It will be slow, two to three months is not unusual so please don't quit your job, give a notice too early, etc.

I know this does not help, keep looking for a job and if they call you back then make the decision then.

Good Luck, Clear Skies!
