Congrats on the CRJ--you know it's the 2nd fastest airplane AMR flies, after the 777? Hopefully we'll get some movement so you won't have to sit reserve for two years.

Here's how it went at Pinnacle for the first couple of days:

Day 1

They gave us tons of stuff, and by tons I mean I need a new bag or two to cart all this stuff around. Flight Ops Manual (FOM), Flight Crew Op Manual Vol I, (FCOM-1), Flight Crew Op Manual Vol II (FCOM2), QRH, some sample Jepp plates, a CRJ cockpit poster (to practice those flows) and a stack of HR paperwork.

Most of the day was a parade of people welcoming us to the company and answering questions. Some of the people that stopped by were the COO, Assistant CP (CP was in either MSP or DTW at the time), base manager for MEM, head of the training department, head of CRJ training, and a couple more. Then we started going through the FOM and learning stuff we need to know.

Day 2

HR day. Lots of forms, drug test, couple of videos, presentation on pass benefits, health insurance, 401K, etc. More forms.

Should get a tour of dispatch, mx hangar (and get to open and close things on the CRJ), uniform fittings, etc sometime next week. Rumor has it ALPA is coming in tomorrow and we're getting SIDA badges for MEM in the morning. So far, this has been fun, and I'm pretty lucky since I have a sim partner/roommate that is as into memorizing flows, memory items and running checklists as I am.
 
Bro knowing you I imagine you've already got everything memorized :)

Day 3
Mostly went over the rest of the Manual (Volume 1). The exciting part of my day was FINALLY getting that all-important Crew badge!! Kind of felt like another step towards validation.

Also met with HR who explained the benefits packages and travel benefits. Can't wait to start taking advantage of those!!!

Day 4
Took our indoc written test. Nothing too stressful as it was open book, but it took FOREVER!! 75 questions all OVER the manual! :p

Passed that, so now it's on to SYSTEMS!!! :bandit:

Then we had a lunch meeting with the ALPA guy. Got all signed up and ready to roll there. So, now I'm truly drinkin' from the Koolaid!! :D ;)

Watched films on Icing and Windshear, those kind of things, then home to work out. NO STUDYING tonight, so my (soon to be) sim partner/roomate and I will be going to checkout a little bit of Dallas.

Next week, the rubber starts hitting the road when we get into systems so we're going to take advantage of this free time.

I don't know why I haven't met Brett yet. I was just in Arlington today getting a haircut and I just totally didn't think about running over to skymates for a minute.
 
Stan, look for a guy named Rick Crose there tomorrow. He's "oriental" - parents are white boy american and phillipino.

Really cool guy but don't fight with him, he's a 4th degree black belt. He kicked me in the head several times tonight sparring!! (not too hard, and I have a hard head.)

He and his dad (MCO ATC) are the leaders of my Chayon Ryu class.

I told him to look for you.
 
Aw Stan you're making me homesick for a very fun few years of my life.

I used to teach in the building you're in. For as much as I like to bash Eagle, the training dept really is great. I think I may still have the key to the library at the end of the hall........ :)

The wings will get scratched, the epaulettes will get dirty, the books will get coffee rings on their pages, the body will get worn with the beatings of scheduling, but keep your attitude positive in your heart and you'll always be as happy as you are now.

Instructor here who just got picked up by AE a month or so ago.

It's all about seniority. Oldest gets first pick.
 
Deep Ellum = might get shot at. Ft Worth is a better bet. Now to wrap up the Pinnacle week:

To round out the week, we finished going through all the company procedures dealing with t/o alternates, alternate mins, exemptions to those mins, picked sim partners, and took our basic indoc test. Unfortunately, hours was NOT open book, but everyone did pass. Lots of questions on duty regs and the aforementioned topics. Best of all, I learned what base I'll be at. Ladies and gentleman, I got my first choice: MEM. From the sound of things, I might not sit reserve long at all, and the rumot is we're going to PBS soon as well.

Oh yeah, there's ANOTHER class starting on Monday. So, in addition to the 20 some odd I have under me in THIS class, that'll be another 30 behind me in seniority. Next week, we start the exciting security, emergency training and Hazmat. Then we move on to systems, which I'm really looking forward to.

To those of you looking to get on at an airline, listen to the experienced guys around here. The little tidbits you pick up really, really help in groundschool.
