Questions About PSA

I am considering applying with PSA. I do have a few of questions about them:

1. What are the chances of me getting a CLT base?

2. What kind of schedule does a new hire typically have?

3. Do they provide single occupancy rooms during training?

I appreciate any info that guys could give me.

The search button is your friend. That said...

CLT may take up to 6 months to hold. You may get it out of training.

Schedules, especially on reserve suck. 10 days off max. Start early the 1st day end late on the last day.

You will get your own room during training.

Oh, they'll catch you in the jetway, thru ACARS, in the pilot lounge...etc.

ACARS is not a valid way to get in touch with a flight crew member.

If you answer your phone and get junior manned and live far away, they may let you go. Or they may must ride you to base, or they may just expect you to get there some how.

We have a commuter clause, but the company refuses to negotiate it into the contract so, while the people that have had to use it have never had problems, it is possible for the company to revoke it at any time, or just not even apply it.

Or you can just tell them you're not coming in on your day off. I uhhh, know a guy who used to do that all the time and he never got in trouble.

Here is all of the information and more you could want about PSA.

Wouldn't that be an extension and not a junior man?

We only have "inverse assignments" and "reroutes" at Southernjets.

A "reroute" would be adding a leg, or sending you to another city pair during a trip.

An "inverse assignment" would be send you on another rotation that wasn't previously scheduled.

I guess its kinda a hijack, but stupid question.. what exactly does being junior manned mean??? alright back to PSA

We had to emergency divert to AEX one night for a hydraulic failure. While the captain was on the phone with crew scheduling trying to get us released for the evening to a hotel, the CS guys were like "oh yeah, we have a trip for you on Saturday, you ready to write down your pairing?"

I am considering applying with PSA. I do have a few of questions about them:

1. What are the chances of me getting a CLT base?
Just to add to what Ethan said who knows.... He is probably right about 6 months until holding a line however they just have told our class there's a great chance ZERO out of the 22 will get CLT....... However DAY and TYS arent really all that bad...

2. What kind of schedule does a new hire typically have?
Ethan hit this one right on the nose..... Looking over lines and what not you are not going to work for PSA and NOT fly..... From talking to many people here now they are flying their re ends off. In addition our lines are what they are..... if you get 12 days off great if not so be it.... Again on reserve 10 days off and that's it guaranteed. Again COULD change as far as how long to hold a line but that's going to happen any where.

3. Do they provide single occupancy rooms during training?
hmm yeah at the lovely Dayton Intl Hotel.... Great place :)

Basically on your day off you answer your phone and a lovely lady/man from scheduling will inform you of your new trip you just got.... Ooops there just cut into your 10 days off while on reserve...... AKA why the comment you dont answer your phone and nothing can really get put into your file, however you answer and say no they will write into your file you denied the trip.....

It is great to get so much feedback about PSA. I was considering applying with them, but after reading this thread, I don't think I'll be doing that. I'm sure that PSA has much nicer airplanes than what I fly at Ram Air Freight, but it sounds like the QOL would be a whole lot worse. That is a deal breaker for me. You can't put a price on good QOL.

Paul, if they take one of your 10 days off, you get it back... normally when YOU want it.

Ah yeah.... forgot about that..... except they have the right to say no if it perhaps happens to be a day such as Christmas or another day which they would be short staffed.... Forgot about that....

AND HE LIVES!!!
Hey Paul, hows it going?

haha man its going! WONT be alive for much longer..... Oral is Saturday.... Then off to meet with Jeremy in CLT...... haha actually no chance of that, what i am hearing in Montreal or STL! Either way I dont care on the city just want to get there for the sim and get it done.......
