Questions about Mesa Airlines

Let'em. Max out every month and then take Nov and Dec off.

Sec. 121.481
Flight time limitations: One or two pilot crews.
(d) No pilot may fly more than 32 hours during any seven consecutive days, and each pilot must be relieved from all duty for at least 24 consecutive hours at least once during any seven consecutive days.
(e) No pilot may fly as a member of a crew more than 100 hours during any one calendar month.
(f) No pilot may fly as a member of a crew more than 1,000 hours during any 12-calendar-month period

JO and crew sched belives that that more of a recommendation than an actual rule. All those SJS'rs don't read stuff for themselves so they only have themselves to blame if they get caught. I'd be okay go ahed and max me out, I'll be maxed out and off enjoying the holidays, while crew scched is scrambling to find bodies to junior assign to cover trips.:D

So, an honest question: How does Mesa have any chance whatsoever to staff 14 new airplanes when they aren't even close to covering the flying that they already have?

I can't answer that - the company says they "have a staffing plan and they're comfortable with it", but they're not the ones being JA'ed every 15 minutes, so I guess if I was them I'd be comfortable with it as well. That's an honest question - but if Mesa's ALPA reps. can't get an honest answer to it, I doubt one will be found here.
