I just rode jumseat on american as a DXer for the first time yesterday. It was a simple process. Make sure to "remind" the gate agent that you're listed for the jumpseat.

777 from DEN-HNL and HNL-DEN. Best seat ever. 747-400 is quite nice on the cargo birds too. Worst by far is the 757 or CRJ200

Im a mechanic and my company does allow me to jump seat in the cockpit and in the back but it doesn't allow FA's to seat in the cockpit.

You can use it for personal travel.

I think @Sandydfw's question was directed to the mechanic who said he can Jumpseat.

Anytime i fly ether for business or pleasure, they just check if my name is in the Jax system.
