Hey Kyle,
It's good to hear that you are considering coming to UWO. It's a great school, and London is an awesome city!
I am entering into my second year, which is when the flight training begins. I have no licenses yet, but will hopefully have my PPL and night rating by May.
Empire is a great school. They have done a lot of work since working with UWO. They have built a new classroom for the students, built a new 6000 sq. foot hangar, and have purchased brand new C172Rs. I hope to fly one of the new C172Rs (1999-2000 models, I believe). They also plan on purchasing a new complex aircraft for the commercial training, and also a new twin (Seneca or Seminole; they currently have a Piper Commanche) for the twin training.
If you want the Empire's address, it is:
www.empireaviation.on.ca
They also recently acquired new Katanas, which I may also get a chance to train on.
If you want the Aeronautical Science degree, then Carlton University in Ottawa has a program. Personally, if I lost my medical, I don't think I'd like to be an engineer. I'm more into business, which is why I came to UWO.
If you want to chat, you can email me at
uwopilot@hotmail.com. Feel free to ask me anything, and if you want, you can ask me anything about Empire.
ps- another great thing about London is that Air Ontario has a hub there, and they work with our program. I have a meeting with Ao's manager, and a captain this week about future summer employment. The airport is also great, as everything from C152s to Dash 8s to 737s come in!
Good luck with your final year in HS!
