Hey guys, I will be soon studying atc at MTSU's AT-CTI program. Although, I have a concern. In college, I will be applying to for a SNA pilot slot in the Navy, a Marine PLC SNA contract, or just continue with AFROTC. So I'll most likely obtain a slot... Although, I'm a bit worried. Being a military pilot is a one shot thing, and I want to take it. The only other career I would like to do is ATC. If somehow I washout of flight school, will I still be able to go back into ATC, or am I screwed? Is there anyway I can go to OK City school training and not apply for a job? Can I just apply for jobs after the Navy saying, "hey, I was a student studying ATC at MTSU, but decided to go be a military pilot instead, can I come back?" I don't know if I would still be able to go into the academy my senior year if ATC was my backup career.

I'm not sure I 100% follow your question ... are you asking if you wash from flight school will it hurt your chances with the FAA ? That answer is no... not at all.

There are only two things I see that could hurt you ... you are older then 31 or you're dishonorably discharged.

No, sorry, I meant like if I studied ATC in college, but never went into it, "declined my offer for a position with the FAA." Would I still be able to get into ATC even if I didn't have any experience, but just a college degree that says I was in the AT-CTI program. Say I got a pilot slot my jonior year in college, can I still go to the academy in OK City, even if I know I will not be an ATC. I just want to go into ATC if somehow I don't make it out of flight school. Just like someone else wanting to be a pilot, but are just getting a business degree in case they washout, so they aren't screwed.

Ok ... I follow.

I'm not an expert on hiring but I'll share what I know. CTI students following graduation take the ATSAT pass/fail. Following a pass on the test the student is then referred to the FAA to be hired. I **think** you can delay your referral to the FAA but you would need to check with your CTI school for exact info.

You can always apply to any off the street hiring the FAA does. The only thing you have to watch is the age limit, the cutoff is 31.
