Hey guys, I searched on JC but I couldn't really find a thread regarding flight bags, I know about a year ago I saw a thread regarding flight bags with some really good links and I just can't find it anymore.
But anyways I'm not quite sure what airline pilot bag I should buy. So I was hoping if you guys could give me more information on what brand or what site online that I could buy it off from I would really appreciate it. And also if someone could explain to me the difference between the flight bag and the bag that you'll be carrying with your overnight stuff like clothes and etc. like how does that work? which one clips on to the other one like i have seen at the airports? lol
Thanks in advance

Rollaboard (clothes): Purdy Neat Stuff 22" Stealth.

Flight kit: Hunt Manufacturing Coyote Works Classic. Add the skid plates, they're worth it.

Crew cooler: AeroCoast.

You carry your charts in the flight kit, your clothes in the rollaboard, and your food in the crew cooler. The rollaboard and the flight kit I listed are both bulletproof, and while I manage to destroy about one cooler per year, I haven't used the AeroCoast yet (but I will be soon) and I hope it lasts more than a year.

I'm sporting the Strongbags roller bag these days. It fits better under the 737 jumpseat than the LuggageWorks bags. Everything, including the outer shell, is available on their website and user-replaceable.

I used to carry the Scott Leather flight case.

Now that we're paperless, I've got our company-issued flight bag. It's got enough room for my iPad, headset, and various other necessary things (sunglasses, pens, flashlight, etc):

Best coolers out there and two sizes. They last for years and worth every penny.

Don't waste your time or money on TravelPro. They do not hold up to abuse. I destroyed two before getting a hard-side Samsonite. I love my Samsonite (it's a 2000 model year old skool style, sadly probably not made any more :( ) and will NEVER get rid of it.

My Strongbag crew cooler actually developed a hole after one year of use. It was kind of frustrating, because otherwise I loved the bag.
That is surprising and disappointing. I've been using the large size one I got for Xmas like 4 years ago and it looks new. Was the hole in the inner lining? I think the warranty is only a year on the coolers, but I would have contacted them. They have very good customer service.

TravelPro are the crappiest pieces of luggage on the planet. Yet they (the crew 9's I think it is) are touted as being developed by a pilot from NWA and they claim a ton of flight crews use them. Rarely have I seen any crew with them.

Luggage works (purdy neat) 22. It makes up at least 98% of all pilot bags. Built like a brick shiat house. Don't settle for less.

I bought my Sampsonite bag at Mervyns for 50 dollars in 2004. Next year will be my 10th year of being a professional pilot and I will be happy to say I've only spent 2.50 a year on an overnight bag. :bounce:
