Question for resident Skywest Pilots

[ QUOTE ]
So where does Denver rank in the domicile system for new hires??

[/ QUOTE ]
In the RJ for new hires SLC is most junior followed by DEN, ORD and COS. Everyone in my class that wanted any of those bases had them by the time they finished IOE. FAT and TUC are slightly harder to get, but attainable within the first couple months. DEN in the EMB is a bit harder to get.

For those familiar with the Orlando area or Florida for that matter, is that a good state for pilots?

I'm planning to move to florida in a couple of years.

I'm sick of the weather in the northeast.

I was in FL the other week - I was not a huge fan. If it is the weather you can find better places IMHO.

Hi lain

I know it is very hot and humid but I don't mine that. I was born in the Caribbean, I'm used to the hot weather.

I would like to know if Florida is a good place to live for a commuting pilot or to be base at.

Other than being 1.5 hrs from either Tahoe or the bay area, the question you have to ask yourself about the SMF domicile is why??? why, dear God, whyyyyyy?????? Sacto is an armpit of a town IMHO, a minor step up from Fresno or Bakertucky.

Hmm, when was the last time you went to Sacramento? In my opinion it is a pretty nice city. I grew up there and moved to San Diego later in my life. You have Tahoe 1.5 hours... and San Francisco 1.2 hours. If you live in the eastern suburbs, it's a pretty nice place to live. (ie Folsom/El Dorado Hills/Cameron Park/Rocklin areas).

Not me either. Just got transfered from Fresno to SLC starting this week. I will really miss the California flying, but the wife would kill me if I had to keep commuting while on reserve at the same time. (Not much "home" time.)

Lee, we'll have to put you on the SLC meet 'n greet list...pm me your info! So far, it's me and Ophir and, well, me and Ophir.

So why would DEN be easier to get in an RJ, than in the EMB?? Just trying to understand the system... Speaking of RJ/EMB, what determines who gets to fly what?
