Question for Delta/ASA Guys...

I'm going about it in a round about way, because it is the only way to do it, but I have heard that the person who founded FlightLine (FLICA) is a Delta guy.

I'm trying to get ball park pricing figures for this software. I know that is easier said than done, but does anyone have information regarding this or know who the guy is?

If so can you PM me?

Thank you!

ORLY? Strange then that we don't use any of his stuff. As an aside, I'm also probably the only airline pilot that dislikes FLICA. The only upside to it is the ability to email yourself your schedule.

Yeah, I am hearing this through third hand 'I think' info type of stuff. I could be completely wrong, we are just trying to find the most detailed costings for it...

Company pays for ours so I'm not entirely sure. If I hear anything I'll let you know.

all I gotta say is.... if you can some how get Corp to pay for it.... please pass that on to SE and the boys. We've been looking for years. It's not cheap.

Talked to CT and PH last week, and they said it's been discussed, but management wants the pilots to foot the bill 100%. It's not really the monthly fee that's the killer, but the start-up costs are apparently astronomical. If Mark can get it for Colgan and management doesn't give it to the 9E side, expect Nonconnah to be on fire within a week.

Yes, it is a Delta pilot. Best bet is to call Newie down at the ASA MEC Office. He may have the contact info.

Actually, it is his brother that started and runs the company. He is the computer guy. The pilot is the front man.

We do. Who do you think makes EasyBid? EasyBid was the first software they wrote to interface with DBMS. When Sabre came out with CrewTrac, they wrote Flica to interface with it.

This might be a good starting point:

Mesa has it and we didn't even have to pay for it. That should mean you get it automatically. "BUT MESA HAS IT!!!" that should win any negotiation.

If only that were true. We're still fighting for 11 days off and trip/duty rigs, too. You'd think we could just go to the NMB and say "Look, guys. We're about the only regional in our class that DOESN'T have this, yet they're still saying what they're offering is "average." How can it be average if we're the only ones that don't have it?"

But, EasyBid and Flica are not our primary means of bidding and scheduling. EasyBid is only an option at the pilot's expense. At Airtran for example, the only way to bid for schedules is through Flica and it is provided by the company.

That is probably because just about every airline out there that started up in the last 20 years uses Sabre's CrewTrac and Flica is one of the online interfaces for it. There is also CrewBid by Sabre, but it was not as good as Flica.

Delta built DBMS close to 30 years ago and it is a propietary program no other airline uses. They only allow EasyBid and PBS to interface with it. Before PBS, you could either use EB or put your bids directly into DBMS. It was a cumbersome pain in the rear, so everyone used EB. ecrew came along and was a bit better, but remember, it is only a windows overlay for the DOS codes required in DBMS.

When I was out on furlough, I was the Main User for CrewTrac at the airline I was at, and spent a lot of time with the Sabre guys. They tried to get Delta to switch over, but the cost was too prohibitive due to DBMS being tied into every program Delta uses.

Don't forget Widget Works! When Dad got that in the mid-90's I had to teach him how to use it (I wasn't a pilot yet and still in college:))

Yep, I did forget about that. Also written by Flightline. The precursor of EB. I actually have a copy of it on my old laptop.
