Question for CFI CFII MEI's

A couple of months ago I passed the CFI-single engine add-on checkride, which added on to my privilages of MEI and CFII. On the back of the plastic cerificate card the FAA mails to you, it only says....

"Flight Instructor: Airplane Multiengine; Instrument Airplane."

I would think it should also say "Airplane Single-engine." Just wondering if this is indeed a mistake, and whom do you think I should call to fix this. Thank you!

This is correct.

Mine says the following: "AIRPLANE SINGLE AND MULTIENGINE; INSTRUMENT AIRPLANE"

If you have received your permanent with the exclusion of your single engine add-on, I suggest you contact your local FSDO to have the certificate corrected. The permanent certificate should reflect what your temporary certificate states.
 
Do you have a hard copy of the 8710 you used? On there it will (or should) have the boxes checked for the rating sought and your exisiting ratings. Also what does it say on your temp certificate?

If you still have these things it shouldn't be too difficult to fix.

How's the instructing going? Did you go to ATP after all?

Hey Guy. I still do have my temp certificate, and it contains all three instructor privilages. I'm sure it's just a small error.
Things are pretty slow up here in the Northeast. Can't seem to catch much of a break. I'm hoping to get the call from ATP sometime in the not too distant future, so I've got my fingers crossed on that. Hopefully the spring brings in more flight training up here till then.
How's life in Hotlanta?
 
Yeah but I don't think it's a small error. If I remember correctly they changed the rules so that you cannot instruct without a category and class on your instructor cert. So if single-engine airplane is not there you can only instruct in a multi and do instrument ground school.

Better get it fixed fast if you plan to instruct. Oh, congrats for getting your intructor certificate.

Sorry, by small error I meant a small error to correct. Just send another card in the mail. Thanks for the congrats!
 
If I am not mistaken -- and you do not have a valid copy of your CFI - Single certificate -- you may be able ask the FAA to send a fax ["facsimile"] valid for up to 60 days (refer to FAR 61.29).
 
Really? That would help out. Thanks for all the advice. If flight schools were hiring like gangbusters for CFI's I would have called immediately.
