Question about LGA

Im newly based in CLE but live on long island and need to commute out of LGA. Does anyone have any idea what the employee parking situation is at LGA or how to go about getting a pass? I'm having a hard time getting this answered and of course no one at PANY/NJ is helpful.

Good luck with that. The PANY won't grant you an employee parking pass unless your airline is based there. At least that was the case when I was based there. Sucks man.

Try to find out about local hotels that may have a parking lot/shuttle bus available to you. You'll have to pay but it may be your least expensive option.

There's is no employee parking at airports other then your domicile

Incorrect. MCO has a commuter lot. Granted, it's so the airport authority gets the $$$ rather than the satellite parking places. Like was mentioned, depends on the airport and even the airline you work for. When I was at Pinnacle commuting from MEM to JFK, 9E picked up the tab for my parking in MEM since it was a base even though I wasn't based there. Some airlines even give you a certain amount of money per month to cover parking no matter where you live/are based.

thanks for the responses. I went to LGA yesterday and found the parking office which is in the 3rd level of the central terminal. If your a commuter they will give you a parking pass as long as you have company ID. its $600 for the year and they dont do monthly, so on a regional salary thats a good chunk of change up front. I think im going to just take the air train to jfk instead and commute out of there.

That's not entirely correct. You can pay for access to the employee parking lot, provided you have verification that you actually work for an airline. I'm doing it out of EWR because it's the cheapest option out of the NYC 3. LGA was $600/yr as I recall with no monthly rates. :aghast:

Nope. DFW based for a bit; got permit at LAX...depends on the airport.

Whether or not your company will pay anything for out of domicile parking is quite another matter.

Seriously? Hmm, sounds like I may need to take a trip to the parking office. I usually fly out of LGA whenever I travel because it's closer (10 mins vs 40) and doesn't involve riding the airtrain that is as user friendly and efficient as your average airline's crew scheduling department. 600 bones for the year would make it totally worth it to park in the employee lot at LGA again. That's only 11 roundtrips in a cab or 16 total nights in the parking lot...
